Digital art, Manga style
Hi there!!!
I cannot believe the amount of spammers posting on my site! it’s absolutely ridiculous! I’ve had 105 comments all together, 86 of them i marked as spam. So stop spamming! It’s annoying!
Ok, let’s get to the actual subject…
Digital Art
Here’s some digital art I’ve been drawing. The characters are from my own comic, if you’re interested take a look at the comic’s page on Facebook, i will post the link bellow.
The process of drawing digital art on Photoshop is really quite simple and the outcome is so much more vibrant and smooth then painting or drawing in the real world.
- First i began with drawing my outlines with artist pens (in real life) once i was happy with my ink work, i scanned the image onto my computer and uploaded it to Photoshop.
- Taking the magic eraser i erased the white between the lines, so that all that was left was the ink outlines.
- Adding a layer bellow the outlines, i used the brush tool to colour each section of the picture, each colour i would put on a new layer underneath the first, so that none of the colours over-lapped and that the ink outlines always stayed on top.

Creative Concepts
A new painting i’m working on.
I’ve really gotten into the subject of geometry, the way numbers can be transformed into shapes and patterns amazes me, How Sacred geometry can combine two opposites to work together in complete harmony.
I find a sense of oneness, with all things, when i see how closely related Art and Mathematics can be. It makes me wonder how Science and Spirituality can work together in a similar way.”the way in which the universe operates”, this has been separated into two “opposite” sides; Science and Religion, fighting to prove which one is correct, when really, both are the same concept and can equally describe each other.
I will upload a video of this painting soon.
Stay tuned for more art!
New Art to come
Lately I’m having a difficult time getting things done.
I’m in for a big project, painting 2 family portraits and a business poster. So there may not be any new articles for a while.
But for future posts…
Recently i have been jotting down some new ideas in my art diary, the first is called “Chaos and Harmony” an idea that came to me from the sounds heard when moving from a built up area, to the natural environment. The second was a study, like a test to see how i could create a human form with a completely non living material, like a crystal, hence the name “Crystalline form”
So please stay tuned for those new ideas, I’ll begin on them as soon as i can.
And thanks everyone for all the interesting feedback.
“Not the Archies” Yarra Ranges
The Archibald prize in the Yarra Valley! Congratulations to local artist Raelene Sharp on winning the packers award
I thought i may as well try my luck with a portrait painting. New art and videos will be uploaded soon.
Modern Art (McGivern Prize Entry)
Recently I’ve been painting an entry for the R&M McGivern art prize!
I was inspired by the recent flooding and cool weather, the idea of the painting was to give the viewer a feeling of heaviness, or being under pressure. (heaviness of the thick misty air, heaviness of emotions, fear of the flooding waters)
Artists statement
On taking a trip to my family’s farm near the NSW border, I was inspired to photograph the recently flooded town and farmland.
In my artwork I have conveyed a sense of weight; the downward strokes are intended to give one a heavy feeling of uncertainty, the farmer fearing for the coming rain. The strokes feel somewhat heavy like the dense air after rain. It is hard to understand how the future can be so unpredictable, that so many lives can be turned around in an instant, how suddenly, the land can be suffocating in the element it was once thirsting for.
Painting Video
Hi take a look at my time lapse video of me painting an art work. I’ll be uploading some new videos soon.
What’s to come?
I’m painting a few oils at the moment, and recording a time lapse painting video! I can’t wait to get it uploaded to youtube and share my art! I’m hoping to get a few videos done.
Right now there are 3 paintings on the way, stay tuned!
